Buddha's Light International Association(BLIA) was founded and established in 1991 by our Grand Master Hsing Yun, of which BLIA Western Australia BLIAWA) is one of the over 180 chapters of this International organisation has in excess of a million members spread across the world. Its mission is to benefit all beings and relieve their sufferings with the compassionate teachings of the Buddha, bringing loving kindness to all.

BLIAWA operates together with International Buddhist Association of WA(IBAWA); members and devotees working voluntarily in all activities.They are encouraged to actively study and practice the Dharma (the Buddha’s teaching) and engage in charitable and community services eg. charity to the less fortunate, tree planting and cleanup of public open spaces. For many years BLIAWA has established a strong
relationship with community organisationsincluding the City of
Perth, the Bayswater City councils, schools and other religious and community organisations.

The Fo Guang Shan temple of WA (IBAWA) is one of over 200 branch temples established around the world with the aim of spreading ‘Humanistic Buddhism’. It is located 4 kilometres from the Perth City centre and is easily accessible by public transport, with the Maylands train station just minutes away. Constructed within a period of 5 years (1994-1998), it was opened to the public in 1998.
